One of the advices that many people like to toss around is to not watch TV since it's bad for you. With all of the bad news that TV stations keep feeding us, watching too much TV will only make you depressed. On top of that, if you spend way too much time in front of the television, then your health will slowly deteriorate because you won't be getting the much needed exercise. So what should you do? If TV is bad for you, should you cut it completely out of your life? Is even a little bit of the "bad stuff" okay? Let's take a look.

First of all, TV isn't bad for you. It's merely a form of communication. TV station send signals through the air wave and your TV set picks it up and converts it into colored pixels which make up the pictures that you see. So in a broad sense, there's really no harm. Of course, what people are talking about is what you choose to watch. Now if that's the case, then if you choose to watch the right programs, then that would make TV okay wouldn't it? There are dozens of education channels dedicated to expanding your knowledge base. So really, it just depends on what you choose to tune into.

However, just like with anything, too much of it can really do some damage both physically as well as psychologically. When you sit in front of a box watching mindless shows, your mind can literally get into a trance. Some people can go on watching for hours and forgetting to eat or even have the urge to use the restroom. This overtime will lead to problem, many of the health related. The more you sit and watch shows, the less exercise you get and the less fit you will be. This can translate into depreciating health conditions.

With that in mind, there are a lot of uses to watching TV. During big games, it's a way to bond with friends and family. For many people, it's a stress reliever from the every day grind. If you use it moderately, it can be a great way to relax and unwind. With that said, if you're going to watch TV, make sure you limit yourself to only 1 or 2 hours a day max. There are a lot better things you can do with your life than to sit mindlessly in front of a colored box.
